Manor Junior School – Welcome from HT

At Manor Junior School our mission statement of Motivation, Joy, Success, is central to the life of our school in fulfilling its purpose.  It is what we see as our raison d’etre.  It is translated into our practice by our dedicated team of professionals who inspire and motivate all children to be well mannered, independent and enthusiastic learners. When your child is in our school they will be learning from highly committed professionals, who take part in regular and reflective training. Children are taught through inspirational teaching and learning activities and apply their literacy, numeracy and life skills across our innovative “3i’s curriculum” and thus achieve great success both academically and pastorally.

A positive relationship between families and school is vital in supporting a child’s life journey, here at Manor Junior School, you will find an approachable and professional team.  We welcome families and carers to participate as much as they can in the life of the school, running weekly PIP (Parent In Partnership) sessions every Tuesday.  We also encourage parents and carers to volunteer at MJS, please contact the school office if this is something you are interested in.  We believe that a school should provide children with a variety of experiences and so we offer a range of clubs both before and after school.  Children regularly learn from outside visitors and workshops and visit places of interest both in the UK and abroad.

The school provides formal, termly meetings with the class teacher midway through the Autumn and Spring Terms with a celebratory events at the end of each term.  At the end of the Autumn and Spring Terms you will receive a written update on attendance, punctuality, attainment and progress.  The school provides one full annual report at the end of the academic year.   However, we recognise that worries may arise at any time and encourage parents and carers to keep class teachers informed.

The Board of Governors and local community have invested heavily in the school environment and we are proud of the renovations and resources that we now have.  As a Healthy Eco-school pupils enjoy a wellbeing room, studio, pond, eco-garden, climbing frame, IT suite as well as classrooms with up-to-date technology and resources.  The atmosphere around our school is joyful and purposeful.

Children are taught in classes that form part of a five class family in a year group.  Heads of Year are responsible for the day-to-day running of their year groups and are available to meet with parents and carers to listen to any concerns.

The school’s Inclusion team offers a comprehensive service.  Our Assistant Head for Inclusion has a team of SENCo, Cognitive Behaviour therapist, dyslexia specialist, highly qualified SEND assistants and access to Educational Psychologists, Speech & Language Therapists etc… As an inclusive school we are here to support you and your child.

The personal development of children is at the heart of MJS.  All children are part of a House System which encourages character development and competition, they participate in inter-house sports as well as against other schools across the South East.   Every child at MJS is part of our school council, each class takes part in debates and pupils learn how to disagree appropriately with each other.  Children at MJS are encouraged to take part in charity awareness events and raise funds for our local community.  The school employs a LAMDA and Music Teacher to help prepare the children for talent shows, assemblies and a variety of productions.

I am very proud to be the Head Teacher of MJS, and to serve our thriving community.  I hope that our website will provide answers to any questions you may have, but if you require further information please do not hesitate to get in touch with us.  We welcome visitors and are very happy to meet with you, show you around our vibrant school and answer any questions you may have.

 Best wishes,
 Clare D’Netto
 Head Teacher
